Select Board · Meeting of August 24, 2026
Marshfield Select Board approved a liquor license transfer and recognized Suicide Prevention Month while a free-speech clash over a towed override sign dominated public comment. Resident Steve Lynch said he parked his own truck with a "no on the override" sign in the same spot a towed trailer had occupied, warning "you will be looking at a lawsuit" if the town removed it too, citing a 2018 ACLU letter calling parts of Marshfield's sign bylaw unconstitutional. The board voted 2-1 to enter executive session over a police union unfair-labor-practice claim before later approving, 3-0, the transfer of the Ocean Street A1 Quick Mart liquor license to new owner Aksh Patel.
Members also accepted $100 and $10,000 donations to Ventress Memorial Library and opened discussion of a first-year expectations letter for new Town Administrator Ted Langell, six days into the job.
