Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Marshfield's Select Board and School Committee hold first-ever joint meeting, warn of a looming $2.8 million budget gap. Town Administrator Langell told both boards that under their new revenue-sharing agreement, schools would see only a 0.7 percent increase in fiscal 2028 while town departments face a 3.7 percent cut just to balance. Superintendent Dr.

Sullivan said 95 full-time positions have been eliminated in Marshfield Public Schools over three years, including 55 layoffs this past year alone, a $4.695 million reduction. "We're just letting you know that we're feeling it too in Marshfield Public Schools," Sullivan said. Health care and pension costs are projected to rise 8 percent and 9 percent annually.

Separately, the Select Board voted 2-0 to transfer a liquor license from Marshfield DAV Chapter 35 to AMVETS Post 1996 and approved John C. Daly, a retired 43-year Boston police veteran, as manager.
