Select Board corrects Waterways Committee appointment, accepts nearly $4,000 in donations
Select Board · Meeting of July 20, 2026
Marshfield Select Board accepts $3,950 in donations and corrects a committee appointment error at brief July 20 meeting. Chair Rick Smith and Member Eric S. Kelley voted unanimously to accept a $100 gift from Joseph and Mrs.
Hanlon for Veterans Services, seven memorial donations totaling $850 to the Council on Aging in memory of James Fox, and an anonymous $3,000 donation to the Marshfield Historical Commission. The board also rescinded its June 22 vote appointing Michael DeMaio to the Waterways Committee and reappointed him in the correct ex officio capacity after Kelley flagged that the earlier motion had omitted the designation — an omission clarified by Town Counsel, identified as Mr. Moore, who confirmed the charter's ex officio provision for the Town Administrator does not bar the board from separately conferring that status on another official.
Both members opened the meeting with extended praise for the Marshfield Police Department, Fire Department, and Plymouth County for their coordination during the Levitate Music Festival the preceding weekend.
