Other Committee · Meeting of July 14, 2026
Marshfield Advisory Board closes FY2026 books with $209,000 in transfers and eyes monthly budget oversight. The board voted unanimously July 14 to approve a package of year-end transfers spanning more than a dozen line items, including $113,130.67 from Select Board salaries to cover a utility overage and $208,886 in combined highway, cemetery salary, and cemetery tree funds to close out a snow and ice deficit that reached approximately $1.6 million, more than four times the original $400,000 appropriation. Finance Manager Meg guided the board through each transfer, noting that a budgeted procurement position was never filled and its salary surplus effectively bankrolled multiple departmental corrections.
The board also heard a proposal from its chair for monthly management review meetings beginning in September, where Finance Manager Meg and the incoming town administrator would present department-level budget dashboards, vacancy data, and budget preparation timelines, with Treasurer Melissa Morrison floated as an early invitee for a debt discussion. Free cash for FY2026 is projected to exceed $2 million after payroll accruals.
