Advisory Board assigns nine warrant articles for Oct. 1
Other Committee · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Marshfield Advisory Board previews a $2.4 million open space deal ahead of Oct. 1 Town Meeting. Finance Manager Meg told members a 29.31 percent general-fund spend rate after one month was skewed by a $10 million pension payment and roughly $1.1 million in liability insurance, both paid in July for an early discount; free cash will come in below the $6 million to $7 million range of recent years. Susan of the Open Space Committee outlined three land purchases totaling $2.381 million, including a nearly 31-acre parcel appraised at $1,125,000 next to Holly Hill Conservation Area's six vernal pools, calling water supply protection "our number one goal... since our first open space plan in 2004." Town Administrator Ted warned the South Shore Vo-Tech assessment will climb sharply through fiscal 2029 with no offsetting school savings.
Resident Wallace Coil told the board a $75,000 library budget shortfall could also cost the town $200,000 in state roof-repair funds.
