Other Committee · Meeting of July 20, 2026

Marshfield Board of Public Works raises all three utility rates and authorizes PFAS planning grant. The board voted 3-0 Monday to increase annual water rates 4 percent to $499, sewer rates 7 percent to $1,059, and solid waste rates from $498 to $540, citing rising disposal costs, escalating debt service on the Plymouth Avenue pump station, and looming PFAS compliance investments. Sewer debt service is projected to reach $1.4 million in FY28, up from under $1 million last year.

The board also awarded a sole-source water meter contract to Tiesales of Sudbury for up to $200,000, switched propane suppliers from Ridington Gas to Superior Plus Energy Services after Ridington nearly doubled its per-gallon markup to 57.5 cents, and authorized engineering firm Tien and Bond to submit a $9,900 State Revolving Fund grant application for a townwide PFAS treatment planning study ahead of anticipated state regulatory deadlines between 2029 and 2031.
