Marshfield Select Board Approves Five Town Administrator Finalists for June Interviews

MARSHFIELD — May 28, 2026 — Marshfield Select Board advances five town administrator finalists and hears bleak override options ahead of June 15 town meeting. The two-member board voted 2-0 Wednesday to schedule interviews by June 12 with Peter Caruso of Millville, Edward "Ted" Langell of Weymouth, Daniel Riviello of Provincetown, Mark Strange of Ludlow, and a fifth candidate, James Cridler, added over the objection of search committee chair Joe Ring, who called member Eric Kelly's independent candidate outreach "unethical." Interim Town Administrator Peter Morin presented three Article 3 budget scenarios: a no-override budget of $123,995,145; a $4 million override totaling $128,027,481; and a $5.6 million level-services override of $129,626,806, down from the $7 million figure in the warrant after staff identified duplicated spending and converted positions. Morin warned that none of the three options includes collective bargaining funding — a 1 percent townwide COLA costs roughly $750,000 — or money for a legal settlement he described as costing "well over a million dollars" following an adverse Supreme Judicial Court ruling.
