Marshfield Select Board Approves Beach Yoga, Fair Liquor Licenses at June 1 Meeting

MARSHFIELD — June 1, 2026 — Marshfield Select Board approves summer beach yoga and fair liquor licenses, tables several bench requests. The two-member board — Chair Rick Smith and Member John Kelly — voted 2-0 on all items at the June 1 meeting, approving beach yoga classes for Unplug and Be Mindful Yoga at Wrexham Beach from June 16 through August 29, two temporary liquor licenses for Marshfield Agricultural Fair events, a $500 Veterans Services donation from Mrs. Thomas Merrigan, and the use of four Town Hall parking spaces for a Dana-Farber Cancer Institute mammography van on July 7. Town Counsel Attorney Bob Galvin clarified that the state's recreational use statute protects the town from liability only when public land is used at no charge, prompting the board to flag that commercial beach instructors who charge fees must complete a formal entertainment license application going forward. A $350 trail bench donation for the John Little Conservation Area and a seawall memorial bench request from Gina Luciani-Lavanchi were both tabled — the bench requests require agreed-upon, mapped locations before the board will vote — and a beach pilates application from Whitney Miller of Bind Yoga Collective was continued pending scheduling and location coordination with existing approved classes.
