Marshfield Board of Public Works approves safety netting, enterprise fund audit contracts

Other Committee · Meeting of March 9, 2026

Marshfield Board of Public Works unanimously awards two contracts totaling nearly $49,000, including a long-sought enterprise fund financial review. The board voted Monday to award Contract 2026-49, worth $29,562, to Sports Field Specialties of Del High, New York, for eight-foot removable safety netting at Dettos Field and Rockwood Field — a project funded by Community Preservation Committee money and initiated by a resident suggestion last fall. In a separate vote, the board awarded Contract 2026-48 to Cherry Burkhart of Raleigh, North Carolina, for $19,500, to conduct a two-year review of the town's water, sewer, and solid waste enterprise fund finances — a project board members said had been in discussion for roughly 11 years.

The board also reviewed draft indirect-cost and offset calculations projected at approximately $1.6 million for fiscal year 2027, with an additional $338,864 in offsets to be billed directly to town departments and the school system, and said it intends to meet with the Select Board to formalize a written cost-allocation policy before the new fiscal year begins in July.
