MARSHFIELD — June 2, 2026 — Marshfield Advisory Board builds a FY27 budget wish list approaching $1 million as town weighs $4 million override. Working through a shared spreadsheet at the June 2 meeting, the board voted unanimously on six line items above the no-override A budget: $75,000 added to the reserve fund (bringing it to $150,000), $50,000 to fully staff and equip the new procurement and purchasing office at $108,000 salary plus $55,000 in expenses, $10,000 for Conservation Commission wetland maintenance, $123,561 to restore the public library to its full $983,628 departmental request and preserve state certification with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and $4,000 in Town Accountant professional services. A $350,000 police placeholder — covering an open lieutenant slot, an open patrol officer, and essential expense lines — was penciled in pending confirmation from Chief Tavares. Fire was held at zero and school figures were deferred pending meetings with Superintendent Dr. Patrick Sullivan.
