Marshfield Select Board votes 2-1 to send MBTA Communities zoning back to town meeting. The vote, cast days before a Supreme Judicial Court hearing on the town's own lawsuit over the law, sends the zoning district to an April town meeting revote for the fourth time. Board member Steve opposed, warning the town risks losing state grants and citing Milton's loss of a $2 million intersection-safety grant, while Chair Rick Smith and a second member said residents deserve another say.

Separately, the board awarded a $653,500 construction contract for the South River Park expansion to Ramco Stake and Survey Company, the low bidder among 13, and denied a beer-and-wine license for a St. Patrick's Day 5K over a former restaurant site's $4,000-plus unpaid water bill. "There's zero benefit to withdrawing before our court case gets decided," Steve said.
