Marshfield Conservation Commission orders replanting at two School Street lots after unpermitted tree cutting. Consultant John Zimmer of South River Environmental told the board that owners at 212 and 224 School Street cut trees near a perennial stream without review, and at 224 the owners ground out stumps after a stop-work order — prompting the commission to weigh a compliance bond before settling on enforceable planting deadlines. The 224 plan calls for 12 replacement trees and 33 shrubs; 212 calls for six trees, two willows and 16 shrubs, both requiring 75 percent survival over two years.

Resident Elyse LaForest said "we are having a problem in the area with trees falling down," while neighbor Leonard LaForest described a tree that pierced a nearby roof. Separately, the commission pushed applicant Mark Blassie to preserve mature trees around a proposed sport court and pool house at 1222 South River Street before approving that project's order of conditions, contingent on a revised plan due January 9.
