Marshfield board approves Ocean Street fence redesign
Conservation · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Marshfield Conservation Commission reports herring count soars to 43,000, then works through nine wetlands cases. Conservation Administrator Mike Seeley said the Veterans Park run, tracked with the North and South Rivers Watershed Association, jumped from about 8,000 fish in 2025 after a rebuild. Commissioners approved a reconfigured fence at 4 Ocean Street for applicant Pat Banda, who said of the old setback, "The situation is such that I can't maintain it," and required it stop three feet from the town seawall.
A dock and 90-cubic-yard dredging proposal at 12 Careswell Street, tied to a disputed 1856 deed reference, was continued to October 7 pending a state DEP file number. Certificates of compliance were issued for four properties, and resident John Kent was directed to stop mowing town-owned marshland behind 201 School Street and file an after-the-fact permit for a 2018 memorial pergola.
