Marshfield School Committee Ratifies Three Union Contracts in Executive Session

School Committee · Meeting of July 14, 2026

Marshfield School Committee unanimously ratifies three union contracts and holds athletics fees steady for 2026-27. The committee voted unanimously in executive session Tuesday to approve separate collective bargaining agreements covering teachers and nurses, assistant principals, and tutors, with Chair Costello thanking legal counsel Andy Wah and staffer Erica Stacey for their work at the table. In open session, Miller and Interim Athletic Director Lauren Jones, who was also congratulated on her new appointment at the meeting, presented a plan to close a roughly $105,000 athletics structural deficit through the elimination of the assistant athletic director position, saving $80,000, improved fee collection via MySchoolBucks, and transportation and uniform adjustments, allowing the district to preserve all freshman and JV programs.

No athletic fee increases will take effect for 2026-27, with the $300-per-sport fee unchanged since 2018, though officials warned a mid-year surcharge remains possible if the operating budget does not improve following a potential Select Board override vote expected after a July 25 board election.
