Marshfield's Zoning Board of Appeals voted to freeze expansion at an industrial site on Plains Trail until a May 25, 2027 hearing.
Zoning Board · Meeting of August 11, 2026
Marshfield's Zoning Board of Appeals voted to freeze expansion at an industrial site on Plains Trail until a May 25, 2027 hearing. The board voted 5-0 to extend a years-long zoning enforcement case involving Millpond Realty Trust's 25-acre property, after member Eric Murphy said the site has grown steadily since being "completely wooded" six years ago despite a standing notice of violation. Town Counsel Robert Galvin briefed the board on sweeping state changes to Chapter 40A that took effect July 9, telling members "variances will be easier to obtain because of the relaxation of the standard." Citing the same law, the board voted 5-0 to deny without prejudice a special permit for 132 Highland Street after Galvin found the lot carried "infectious invalidity" from an earlier illegal division.
The board also approved five routine house-raising permits in flood zones.
