MARSHFIELD -- March 24, 2026, Marshfield Capital Planning Committee approves nine emergency capital projects for town meeting, all contingent on unverified funding. The committee, chaired by Jack Griffin, confronted a $15.6 million capital request list against confirmed available funds of only $400,000 in free cash and an unverified $340,000 from closed projects, figures Griffin said had shifted the day before the meeting and again the afternoon of the meeting. After adopting a unanimous framework barring full authorization of any project without a verified funding source, the committee voted 4-0 to recommend nine items to town meeting, expected around April 27: one police cruiser ($201,000), a Paramedic 4 ambulance replacement ($531,500), Ocean Bluff riprap repairs representing the town's 25 percent FEMA-match share ($450,000), water main upgrades ($120,000), carbon filter replacement ($200,000), Daniel Webster School roof emergency repairs ($145,000 of a $1.8 million original request), one special education van ($142,452), the Green Harbor jetty alignment project ($450,000), and an animal control vehicle ($73,900). The Council on Aging separately announced it had secured a grant covering its full $126,087 vehicle request, removing that item from the capital list entirely.
